Pelicans Prepare for Winter at the Kyiv Zoo
This is reported by Kyiv24
In the capital, the cycle of seasonal feedings for pelicans will conclude — this weekend, on November 29 and 30, the last street picnic of the year for these majestic birds will take place at Kyiv Zoo. The event will be held at the pelican lake near the Central entrance to the zoo at 12:00 PM.
Preparation for the Winter Period
December will mark the month when the pelicans will finally move to their warm winter residence. This is why visitors have a unique opportunity to see with their own eyes how the pink and curly-feathered birds are still swimming, strolling, and enjoying fresh fish outdoors. This is the last chance of the season to observe their activity in the open air, as soon the weather conditions will force the birds to leave the water until spring.
“Autumn is coming to an end, and our pelicans are preparing for their annual migration to a warm winter home. But while the frosts have not yet arrived – these magnificent Ukrainian birds are swimming, strolling, and enjoying fish in the open air! So you also have the chance to admire our curly-pink flock of pelicans, as this weekend we are hosting the last street picnic of the season with a feeding demonstration,” the Kyiv Zoo reported.
A Celebration for the Whole Family
The period of open feedings traditionally attracts many guests, as it is not only an opportunity to observe the feathered creatures but also to receive positive emotions on the brink of winter. The staff at the Kyiv Zoo advise not to miss the chance and to attend the event to get a boost of good mood before the cold season begins.

The organizers invite everyone interested to join: “Add some positivity before winter!”
