The Zhytniy Market, located in the Podil district at 16 Verkhniy Val Street, may soon receive the status of a newly discovered cultural heritage site. The relevant decision from the appropriate authorities is expected within a month.

Procedure for Granting Special Status
As explained by Marina Solovyova, the director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection, the Advisory Council on Cultural Heritage Protection has already approved the documentation regarding the Zhytniy Market. After the protocol of this council is approved, which is scheduled for the next two days, the Department will have 30 days to develop the corresponding draft order to include the site in the list of newly discovered cultural heritage sites of Kyiv.
“The next step will be the preparation and submission of a package of documents to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine to assign the Zhytniy Market the status of a cultural heritage site,” said Solovyova.
Further Steps in Granting Status
After the Zhytniy Market is included in the relevant list, specialists from the Department will prepare a package of documents for submission to the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine. According to Marina Solovyova, this stage is allotted no more than 30 days.
The final decision regarding the granting of cultural heritage status to the Zhytniy Market will be made by the relevant ministry. The completion of all procedures is expected within the next month.
