The White House has announced that a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest is not planned in the near future. A senior U.S. administration official noted that preparations for this meeting are currently on hold.

Reports indicate that the reason for the postponement is that both sides are not yet ready for negotiations. Journalists, citing a White House representative, add that the consideration of holding the summit in Budapest has been temporarily shelved, and there are currently no specific plans for a new date.

Diplomatic Contacts and Proposals for Ceasefire
Meanwhile, it has become known that on October 20, a phone conversation took place between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, which the interlocutors described as productive. However, a personal meeting between Rubio and Lavrov is not currently planned, despite previous speculations about the possibility of such a meeting on October 23.
Earlier, on October 16, Donald Trump had a phone conversation with Vladimir Putin, after which he announced a potential meeting of the presidents in Budapest, although no specific date was announced. The following day, October 17, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. Following these negotiations, Trump stated that it was time to end the bloodshed and reach a peace agreement. In particular, he proposed to halt hostilities along the front line, and this initiative received support from both Ukraine and European leaders.
