President of the United States Donald Trump stated that the agreement regarding minerals between the USA and Ukraine is ready and may be signed soon. This announcement came during his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the Oval Office on April 17.

Expectations and Preparations for Signing
According to Trump, the document is planned to be signed next Thursday:
“We have a mineral agreement that I think will be signed on Thursday”.
He also emphasized that the Ukrainian side will fulfill the terms of the agreement after it is signed. Earlier that same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that a memorandum of intent to enter into such agreements could be signed that day.
Ukrainian Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko added that the technical teams from the USA and Ukraine have developed detailed terms for the mineral agreement. According to her, the parties agreed to formalize the reached agreements in a corresponding memorandum and to complete the formalization of the agreement soon.
Previously, on March 24, Trump noted that he expects the signing of an agreement with Ukraine regarding minerals. At the same time, President Zelensky confirmed that the USA is preparing a new draft agreement and has offered Kyiv “a large agreement right away.”
According to information from the newspapers Financial Times and Bloomberg, the United States insists on concluding a new agreement with Ukraine that will cover all natural resources, including oil, gas, and key energy assets of the country.
