Law enforcement officials confiscated smuggled goods worth over 12 million hryvnias

At the Ukrainian-Polish border, customs officers detained two Kyiv residents who attempted to illegally import Swiss watches and jewelry into Ukraine, concealing them from inspection.

Smuggling Discovered in a Scheduled Bus

The violation was recorded during an inspection of a passenger bus traveling on the “Warsaw – Kyiv” route. After passing through customs inspection, the vehicle was already heading into Ukraine, but during a search, law enforcement officials found hidden elite watches, pendants, bracelets, and spare parts for watches from various global brands.

“As a result of the search, hidden watches of various well-known brands, pendants, bracelets, and spare parts for watches were discovered and seized from the personal belongings of the individuals. According to forensic conclusions, the total value of the seized items is estimated at over 12 million hryvnias,” the statement said.

Charges for Smuggling and Further Investigative Actions

The perpetrators have already been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of goods). Currently, the indictment has been sent to court, where both residents of Kyiv await trial for attempting to illegally transport expensive items across the state border.
