The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the border checkpoint “Pohar” in the Sluchovsk district of Bryansk region, Russia, on March 27. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Friday.
This is reported by Kyiv24
According to the command, the strike inflicted significant damage to the military infrastructure of the checkpoint, destroying communication equipment, electronic warfare systems, and the video surveillance system. Preliminary estimates indicate personnel losses that may range from 15 to 40 Russian soldiers.
Response to Russian Army Attacks
The General Staff emphasized that the airstrike is a response to the actions of Russian military forces, which continue to attack Ukrainian settlements using strike drones, causing damage to civilian infrastructure and resulting in the deaths of Ukrainian citizens.
“It is known that launches of Russian UAVs have been repeatedly recorded from the location of ‘Pohar’. The destruction of this checkpoint reduces the enemy’s potential to conduct combat operations against the Defense Forces of Ukraine in the Sumy region and in the Kursk direction,” the command’s statement said.
Reaction to the Strike
At the time of publication, the Russian Ministry of Defense had not commented on the strike on the “Pohar” checkpoint. The governor of Bryansk region had previously reported other strikes in the area, including on an agricultural enterprise.
Radio Free Europe does not have the ability to independently verify information about the strike on the checkpoint. Meanwhile, Russian military forces attack Ukrainian territory daily with strike drones, and Bryansk remains one of the key areas for launching UAVs.
