Ukraine and Somalia have officially established diplomatic relations, as announced by Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga. This significant event took place during his speech at the Antillean Diplomatic Forum.

Andriy Sybiga noted that Ukraine intends to strengthen ties and maintain a presence on the African continent.
“Today we officially established diplomatic relations with Somalia. I signed the relevant protocol with the State Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Ali Mohamed Omar,” he reported.
Paths of Cooperation Between Ukraine and Somalia
During the meeting, the possibilities for developing cooperation between the two countries were also discussed. The minister reminded that Ukraine has already provided humanitarian aid to Somalia under the “Grain from Ukraine” program and is ready to continue supporting the country’s food security.
Current Diplomatic Initiatives of Ukraine
This initiative is part of a broader strategy by Ukraine to expand diplomatic ties. It is noteworthy that recently President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to restore diplomatic relations with Syria.
