“I was pleased to meet in Lviv with my British colleague and friend David Lammy,” he noted in his post. At the same time, he thanked the United Kingdom for announcing the largest package of sanctions against the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation. According to Sybiha, strengthening sanctions and pressure on Russia is key to increasing the cost of war for the aggressor country.

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry emphasized that he informed his British counterpart about the current situation at the front, particularly regarding Russia’s ongoing violations of the ceasefire regime. The parties also focused on further diplomatic efforts and measures aimed at achieving a “just and lasting peace for Ukraine and all of Europe.”

Discussion of Peace and Future Steps

Earlier, the British Foreign Office announced that on May 9, Foreign Secretary David Lammy would meet with his Ukrainian counterpart and 17 other foreign ministers in Lviv. This meeting is expected to discuss further steps towards “achieving lasting peace in Europe,” which is an important stage in the diplomatic resolution of the conflict.
