Ukraine Urges Serbian Officials to Focus on Their Own Issues

On behalf of the Ukrainian diplomatic agency, Georgiy Tikhiy advised the Serbian minister to refrain from such statements and to concentrate on matters concerning Serbia. The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that officials should not use the territorial issues of other countries in their remarks.

“To the Serbian Minister of Information Boris Bratina, who stated that Croats must pay for their crimes, like Ukrainians – we suggest that he utilize the territories of his own country in his reckless verbal exercises. As the Ukrainian proverb goes, a fly does not enter a closed mouth.”

Serbian Minister’s Statement Provokes Reaction in Croatia

It is worth noting that Serbian Minister of Information Boris Bratina, in a comment for Serbian television that was circulated by Croatian media, called for punishing Croatia for its historical past, particularly for its involvement in World War I and World War II, as well as the events of the early 1990s. Specifically, he stated that, in his opinion, “like Ukrainians, they (the Croats – ed.) must pay with territory. There is no other punishment,” emphasizing that this does not involve violence against Croats, but in his view, the country needs to be punished for past actions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Croatia has not yet released an official response to the Serbian official’s remarks.
