Sanctions against enterprises and those close to Lukashenko
According to the decree, the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has been enacted, which provides for sanctions against Belarusian legal entities and citizens that assist Russia in the war against Ukraine. The list includes 16 Belarusian citizens and 11 companies. In particular, sanctions have been imposed on Belarusian enterprises involved in the production of artillery shells of 122 and 152 millimeters caliber. Restrictions have also been applied to the Vitebsk Electric Measuring Instruments Plant, which supplies equipment for the repair and modernization of Russian armored vehicles, as well as to the company “Radiotechnika,” which produces components for the military equipment of the Russian armed forces.
Viktor Sheyman and Lukashenko’s sons under sanctions
Among the individuals affected by the new restrictions is Viktor Sheyman, one of Alexander Lukashenko’s closest associates. Sheyman has held high state positions in Belarus for many years, carrying out important assignments for the country’s leader, organizing intergovernmental negotiations, and engaging in shadow business connections. He is also accused of creating “death squads” that targeted opposition figures and civil activists, as well as organizing schemes to circumvent international sanctions. He is already under sanctions from the USA, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Canada.
“Among the individuals is Viktor Sheyman, a close associate of Alexander Lukashenko, who has held high state positions in Belarus for many years. He carries out assignments for the self-proclaimed president, conducts intergovernmental negotiations, and establishes shadow business relations. He is involved in the organization of ‘death squads’ that eliminated opposition politicians, activists, and civil figures. One of the organizers of schemes to evade sanctions imposed by Ukraine and partner states against Russian and Belarusian companies. Viktor Sheyman is under sanctions from the USA, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Canada.”
In addition to Sheyman, Ukrainian sanctions have also targeted Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko — the sons of Alexander Lukashenko. According to official information, they are involved in circumventing international sanctions, exporting dual-use products, and re-exporting goods through the territory of Belarus.
The imposed restrictions aim to complicate the Lukashenko regime’s cooperation with Russia in the military sphere and limit opportunities for circumventing sanctions imposed by the international community.
