Ukraine Imposes Sanctions Against Russian Paralympians and Individuals Linked to the Russian Defense Industry

Путін не хоче зупиняти війну, але «не хоче» не означає «не зробить»

The Ukrainian authorities have made the decision to impose sanctions against Russian Paralympians who participated in the war against Ukraine, as well as against individuals and companies involved in servicing the Russian defense industry.

Sanctions Against Russian Paralympians and Defense Enterprises

According to the decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky, restrictions have been applied to 10 Russian Paralympians who were directly involved in military actions on the part of Russia. The sanctions list also includes 130 individuals and 48 legal entities connected to the Russian defense industry.

Among the organizations subject to sanctions is a company that supplies components for the production of satellite navigation equipment of the “Kometa” series. These components are used in Russian drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, guided munitions, and aircraft that attack Ukrainian cities. The list also includes enterprises involved in the production of the “Oreshnik” missile system.

Russia’s Cooperation with Iran and International Response

The sanctions list also includes companies and citizens of Iran involved in the production of Iranian drones and missiles, which are used not only against Ukraine but also in the Middle East region. The sanctions extend to Iranian instructors who trained Russian operators of “Shahed” drones, which subsequently carried out attacks on Ukrainian territory.

“The Russian and Iranian defense industries have long been interconnected. With this sanctions package, we are highlighting key participants involved in the production of weaponry used for attacks by Russia against Ukraine and by Iran against many countries. The world must do much more to disrupt these supply chains, particularly of critical components, and effectively counter this cooperation. And we will work on synchronizing these sanctions,” said the President’s Advisor on Sanctions Policy, Vladyslav Vasyuk.

It is worth noting that in February, President Zelensky signed a decree approving the decision of the National Security and Defense Council regarding sanctions against Alexander Lukashenko for facilitating Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine.
