EU – A Key Political and Economic Guarantee for Ukraine
According to the head of state, Ukraine’s accession to the European Union will provide not only political but also economic and geopolitical protection. He stressed that EU membership has been highlighted as a separate point in the official Kyiv’s approaches to the security guarantee system.
“Among the security guarantees we see is membership in the European Union,” Zelensky stated.
The President added that the discussion about Ukraine’s path to the EU was one of the topics of his recent conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of the “Coalition of the Willing” meeting.
Ukraine Prepares for Negotiations on EU Accession
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced in August plans to conduct an official joint analysis with the European Union regarding the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU law by the end of the year. This will lay the groundwork for Ukraine’s readiness to open negotiations for accession across all six clusters.
In June, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, expressed support for starting EU accession negotiations for Ukraine and Moldova. In her opinion, both countries have already met the necessary conditions to initiate the integration process.
