Today, Ukraine celebrates Education Workers’ Day, which traditionally falls on the first Sunday of October. In 2025, this date coincides with World Teachers’ Day, celebrated annually on October 5 as decided by UNESCO. This symbolic combination highlights the importance of educators not only for Ukrainian society but also in the global educational landscape.
Honoring Educators with State Awards
On the eve of the holiday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky presented state awards to the best representatives of the education sector. The solemn ceremony took place at Mariupol State University, which was evacuated to Kyiv after the onset of Russia’s full-scale aggression in 2022. The President emphasized the significance of educators’ contributions to the country’s development, highlighting their resilience and dedication in the challenging conditions of war.
Words of Gratitude to Educators and Youth
“I thank every educator for their knowledge, patience, and strength. I am grateful to our youth for being here in Ukraine and for their thoughts about the future of our state. Thank you for the communication and a very good meeting,” wrote Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel.
Education Workers’ Day has become an occasion for numerous congratulations and words of gratitude directed at teachers, lecturers, and all those who shape the future of the country through their daily work. Educators remain a model of professionalism, resilience, and patriotism for all generations of Ukrainians.
