Ukrainian Delegation Conducts Third Round of Negotiations with the USA in Paris

The Ukrainian delegation held another series of consultations with representatives of the United States of America in Paris. This was reported by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov. According to him, this is already the third meeting between the parties in the last two days, highlighting the intensity of negotiations amid the ongoing war.

Participants in the Negotiations and Key Topics of the Meeting

The consultations involved U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Ambassador Charles Kushner, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House staff member Josh Gruenbaum. The Ukrainian side was represented by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andriy Hnatov, Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, First Deputy Head of the President’s Office Serhiy Kyslytsia, Head of the parliamentary faction “Servant of the People” Davyd Arakhamia, and Advisor to the President’s Office Oleksandr Bevz.

“This was already the third meeting with the American side within two days in Paris,” reported the NSDC Secretary.

Discussion on Ending the War and Further Coordination

According to Umerov, during the negotiations, the parties thoroughly examined the key aspects of the basic framework for ending the war. Special attention was given to the formation of possible formats for future high-level contacts involving the leaders of Ukraine, the USA, and European partners. After the negotiations, the Ukrainian delegation is preparing a detailed report on the meeting’s results for President Volodymyr Zelensky.

It is worth noting that on January 6, negotiations of the “Coalition of the Willing” took place in Paris regarding the plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and security guarantees for Ukraine. Leaders from the European Union, NATO, 27 countries, as well as representatives from Turkey, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner participated. After the summit, President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian and American delegations are also conducting separate negotiations in Paris.
