Ukraine Coordinates Efforts with Partners and Countries Neighboring Iran

Zelensky emphasized that Ukrainian military personnel possess the necessary competencies to provide such assistance, and that support will be organized in a way that does not weaken Ukraine’s defense capabilities. Consultations are currently ongoing with European and American partners, as well as with countries neighboring Iran. In particular, the president informed about negotiations with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

“Our military has the necessary capabilities. Ukrainian experts will work on the ground, and teams are already coordinating this. We are ready to help protect lives, safeguard civilians, and support real efforts to stabilize the situation and restore, in particular, safe navigation in the region,” he wrote in a Telegram message after the meeting regarding the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region.

Escalation of the Conflict and Its Consequences for the Region

The first wave of strikes on February 28 was carried out by the United States and Israel, resulting in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a significant number of other high-ranking officials of the Iranian regime. In response, Iranian military forces conducted missile and drone attacks not only on Israel and U.S. facilities but also on regional neighbors, whom Tehran considers allies of Washington.

As a result of the Iranian strikes, at least six American military personnel were killed, and there were casualties among the civilian population of Middle Eastern countries. According to the human rights organization HRANA, from the beginning of the conflict from February 28 to March 3, 1,097 civilian deaths and 5,402 injuries, including children, were recorded in Iran. Additionally, strikes on military bases, medical facilities, and residential areas in various parts of the country have been documented.
