A New Phase of the War: Russia Intensifies Strikes on State Facilities

“Together with Ihor Klymenko and Andrii Sybiha, we informed 60 heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine about the consequences of one of the largest air attacks by the Russians since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. We showed the floors of the Cabinet of Ministers damaged by the Russian attack,” Yulia Svyrydenko wrote on Monday, September 8.

According to Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, work is currently underway to eliminate the consequences of the shelling, and soon the roofing of the damaged building will begin. She emphasized that this massive strike signifies a new phase of war for Ukraine: Russia has significantly increased the use of kamikaze drones to attack civilian, energy facilities, and state institutions, deliberately causing damage ahead of the heating season. This, she stated, indicates Russia’s unwillingness to engage in negotiations and a blatant disregard for the diplomatic efforts of the international community.

Victims Among the Civilian Population and Support from the International Community

The Prime Minister also highlighted the tragic consequences of the nighttime attack, which resulted in the deaths of a young mother and her two-month-old child. Svyrydenko thanked the diplomats for their presence, emphasizing the importance of supporting Ukraine in its struggle to maintain statehood.

“The Russians are killing our children, and thus our future. We are grateful to all the diplomats; your presence here this morning is a sign of support for us in our fight for the existence of the state,” the Prime Minister noted.
