False reports about supposed mass emergency power outages are spreading across Ukraine.
This is reported by Kyiv24
Following a night of massive missile and drone attacks, unreliable information regarding potential power outages in all regions of the country appeared on Telegram channels. However, the national energy company “Ukrenergo” officially stated that these reports are not true.
Fraudsters Use Fake Messages
“At the same time, fraudsters visually style such messages to resemble official information from the Ministry of Energy and refer to ‘Ukrenergo’. These messages are yet another manipulation on a sensitive topic. Please do not click on the links provided in such posts. The data requested during registration on Telegram channels that spread fake news may be used by fraudsters for their dishonest purposes,” the national energy company warned.
Ukrenergo emphasizes that fraudsters disguise their messages as official statements from the Ministry of Energy and often use logos or styles of government institutions. Thus, citizens are urged not to click on suspicious links and not to leave personal information on dubious resources.
The Situation in the Energy System is Under Control
According to “Ukrenergo”, the energy system of Ukraine is currently operating stably and is under full control. No restrictions on electricity consumption are being imposed in the regions, so there is no reason to spread panic.
The company reiterated that all important messages should only be verified on official resources, not to trust unverified channels, and to avoid jeopardizing their personal data.
