Requirements for the State Language for Passport Entries

According to the adopted document, the change specifically concerns passport booklets. Legislators emphasize that from now on, any entries in such documents must be made only in the Ukrainian language. This step is aimed at ensuring a unified language standard during the processing of official documents.

“The language for making the relevant entries is determined by part one of Article 8 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language’,” the resolution states.

Cancellation of the Old Provision Regarding Foreign Passports

In addition to changes to the passports of citizens of Ukraine, the resolution also recognizes as null and void the Provision on the Passport of a Citizen of Ukraine for Traveling Abroad, approved back in 1992. This decision was made in connection with the fact that updated rules for issuing foreign passports have been in effect in the country since 2015. Thus, legislators have completed the transition to a modern system for providing documents for traveling abroad.

The adopted changes will contribute to further standardization of documents and increase their compliance with the current requirements of Ukrainian legislation.
