The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted in the second reading and as a whole a draft law aimed at supporting families with children and creating conditions for balancing parenthood with professional activities. The document, which was voted for by 294 members of parliament, provides for a significant increase in the amount of assistance for childbirth and childcare, starting from 2026.

New Amounts of Social Assistance for Families with Children
According to the adopted law, the following types of payments are provided starting next year:
- 7,000 hryvnias – assistance related to pregnancy and childbirth for uninsured individuals;
- 50,000 hryvnias – one-time assistance for childbirth;
- natural assistance “baby package” or its monetary compensation, exceeding 7,500 hryvnias (at the choice of one of the parents);
- 7,000 hryvnias – assistance for childcare until the child reaches one year of age;
- 8,000 hryvnias – assistance for childcare “eNursery” in case the mother is employed full-time;
- 8,000 hryvnias – monetary payment for childcare “eKindergarten”;
- 5,000 hryvnias – one-time monetary assistance for children entering the first grade, in the form of a “school package”.
Features of Payment Assignment and Next Steps
According to the law, the 7,000 hryvnias assistance for childcare until one year of age can also be assigned to children who have not yet reached one year of age at the time the law comes into effect, meaning those born in 2025.
These innovations were approved by the government back in July, and for the law to come into effect, it must be signed by the President of Ukraine.
“Currently, the assistance for childbirth amounts to 41,280 hryvnias. A one-time payment of 10,320 hryvnias is made, and the remaining amount (30,960 hryvnias) is paid by the state over three years at 860 hryvnias each month.”
