Nature of the Charges and Progress of the Investigation
Investigators established that in December 2025, the suspect began negotiations with certain members of parliament regarding the establishment of a payment system for loyal voting in the parliament. It has been documented that this involved a “sustainable mechanism for cooperation with advance payments,” meaning a formalized process for providing unlawful benefits for certain votes.
On January 14, 2026, NABU and SAP announced charges against Yulia Tymoshenko under Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the investigation materials, the faction leader is suspected of offering and organizing a systematic provision of unlawful benefits to parliamentarians in exchange for their loyalty during votes.
Tymoshenko’s Reaction and Court Decision
After a search of the office of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko stated that these accusations are politically motivated and she categorically denies them. She called the case materials fabricated and viewed the actions of the investigators as a manifestation of political order.
“I categorically reject all absurd accusations and consider this case a political order.”
On January 16, 2026, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on Tymoshenko in the form of bail exceeding 33 million hryvnias. Additionally, a number of procedural obligations were imposed on her: she is not allowed to leave the Kyiv region without the permission of the NABU detective and the SAP prosecutor, and she must surrender her foreign passport.
