Verkhovna Rada Unable to Suspend Maryana Bezuhla from Participation in Sessions

Верховна Рада не підтримала відсторонення Безуглої від засідань – депутати

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine did not support the resolution for the temporary suspension of Member of Parliament Maryana Bezuhla from participating in parliamentary sessions. This was reported by MPs Oleksiy Honcharenko (“European Solidarity”) and Yaroslav Zheleznyak (“Golos”).

Voting Results and MPs’ Positions

To pass the resolution, at least 226 votes from parliamentarians were needed, but only 141 deputies voted “in favor.” As Honcharenko noted, the draft proposed the removal of Bezuhla from one session of the Verkhovna Rada. He emphasized that “in a state of war, one session is an entire session,” but the current session ends tomorrow, and the new one will begin on September 2.

Reason for Initiating the Suspension

The day before, the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Regulations recommended that the parliament suspend Maryana Bezuhla from participating in the plenary session. According to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, this decision was made by the committee on the third attempt due to “systematic violations of the regulations and antisocial behavior” of the MP.

“In a state of war, one session is an entire session. But tomorrow the session ends. And a new one opens on September 2,” he added.

Maryana Bezuhla herself, in response to the committee’s decision, announced her intention to appeal to the court regarding the legality of the actions of the regulations committee.
