He highlighted that Ukraine values the support of all those who currently stand with the country in the fight for peace and the protection of the key security interests of European nations.

Support from International Leaders
Zelensky expressed gratitude to international partners for their solidarity with Ukraine in its quest for peace. He underscored the importance of statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
“Ukraine appreciates and fully supports the statement by President Macron, Prime Minister Meloni, Chancellor Merz, Prime Minister Tusk, Prime Minister Starmer, President Ursula von der Leyen, and President Stubb regarding peace for Ukraine,” Zelensky concluded.
Negotiations for a Peace Agreement
In light of these statements, it became known that U.S. President Donald Trump announced his intention to hold a meeting in Alaska with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to achieve a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. According to Trump, who spoke during the announcement of the meeting on August 8, possible agreements may involve “territorial exchanges.”
At the same time, The Wall Street Journal reported that Putin, in a conversation with Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, expressed readiness for a complete ceasefire on the condition that Ukraine withdraws its troops from the entire Donetsk region.
