Support for Ukraine and Diplomatic Pressure on Russia

Volodymyr Zelensky reported that he informed his counterpart in detail about the situation at the front and discussed diplomatic mechanisms for exerting pressure on Russia. According to him, the Nordic countries support the need for a swift, fair, and reliable end to the war, as well as increased pressure on the Russian Federation. Zelensky emphasized that it is Russia that must take steps to end the war it started.

“I informed about the situation on the battlefield, and we discussed the diplomatic situation in great detail. Sweden, like all Nordic countries, clearly supports the need for a swift, honest, and reliable end to the war and effective pressure on Russia. It is Russia that must take steps to end the war it itself started. We will continue to coordinate with Sweden and other partners to strengthen our positions,” said Zelensky.

The parties also agreed to enhance coordination of actions between Ukraine, Sweden, and other partners to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. They discussed formats for future meetings and agreed to hold mutual visits in the near future.

Cooperation in Military Aviation Development

Particular attention was paid to issues of cooperation in the development of Ukrainian military aviation. Zelensky noted that combat platforms are currently being identified on which the Ukrainian aviation fleet will operate in the next stages. Ukrainian and Swedish teams have already begun substantive work in this area of cooperation.

Additionally, it became known that Sweden, Norway, and Denmark will jointly allocate about five billion Norwegian kroner (approximately 486 million dollars) for the NATO initiative to provide Ukraine with American weapons.

Previously, U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, announced plans to provide Ukraine with billions of dollars in weapons to be purchased by NATO. He also noted that among the equipment, Ukraine will receive Patriot air defense systems.
