A Young Man Fined in Kyiv for Singing Russian Songs in Police Uniform

Kyiv law enforcement authorities held a 20-year-old resident of Kyiv accountable for posting a video on social media where he sings Russian songs while wearing a police uniform.

Video with Provocative Content Discovered During Monitoring

During an online content check, police noticed a video recording in which a young man in a police uniform performs Russian songs using profanity. Identifying the offender, officers from the Darnytsia Police Department found out that he is a 20-year-old resident of Kyiv.

Motives and Consequences of the Act

After interrogation, the young man explained that he did this for the sake of “hype” and to increase his followers on social media. However, such actions did not exempt him from responsibility, as the use of police uniforms, insignia, or attributes without legal grounds is a violation of current legislation in Ukraine. Administrative liability is provided for this under Article 184-3 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

Police drew up the relevant administrative protocol, under which the young man faces a fine of up to 34,000 hryvnias.
