Zelensky and Sibiga to Represent Ukraine at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, along with Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiga, will participate in high-level events of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, which will take place in New York from September 21 to 26.

Key Events Involving the Ukrainian Delegation

During the visit, Zelensky will speak at the General Assembly’s general debates. The agenda also includes his participation in the Fifth Summit of the International Crimean Platform, a high-level meeting of the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children, and a special meeting of the UN Security Council dedicated to the issue of Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Andrii Sibiga, in addition to participating in the president’s program, will hold a series of separate events. In particular, he will take part in a thematic discussion on energy resilience and green recovery in Ukraine, a meeting of the Friends Group on holding Russia accountable for aggression, a ministerial meeting of the G20, and open debates at the UN Security Council.

Purpose of the Visit and Diplomatic Meetings

During the trip, a number of bilateral and multilateral negotiations are planned for both the president and the foreign minister with representatives from various countries around the world – from Europe and North America to Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.

“Alongside participating in the program of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Sibiga will conduct a series of separate events, including a thematic discussion on energy resilience and green recovery in Ukraine, a meeting of the Friends Group on holding Russia accountable for aggression against Ukraine, a speech at the ministerial meeting of the G20, and open debates at the UN Security Council,” the ministry reports.

The main goal of the Ukrainian delegation’s participation is to strengthen international support amid the escalation of Russian aggression, as well as to promote global efforts to achieve a just peace in accordance with the UN Charter. Special attention will be paid to increasing political and sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation to implement the principle of “peace through strength.”

Earlier, Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tikhiy confirmed that Zelensky would lead the Ukrainian delegation at the UN General Assembly in the USA. It was also reported that US President Donald Trump is likely to meet with Zelensky next week.
