Searching for Paths to Peace and Economic Pressure on Russia

According to the head of state, a key topic of the dialogue was the discussion of ways to increase pressure on Russia in order to achieve real peace. Zelensky emphasized that various options for action are being considered, including measures of economic influence aimed at depriving the Russian military machine of financial and material resources. In the opinion of the Ukrainian president, this is one of the main mechanisms for ending the war.

“We discussed various options, and the most important thing is pressure, to force an end to the war through strong measures, including economic ones. The key to peace is depriving the Russian war machine of money and resources,” he stated.

Security of Ukrainian Skies and Continued Support

The parties separately discussed the issue of protecting Ukrainian airspace from missile and drone attacks by the Russian Federation. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has proposed to the U.S. to consider creating a special format to guarantee sky security, in order to minimize risks to the civilian population during the ongoing Russian aggression.

The president expressed gratitude to Donald Trump for supporting Ukraine and agreed on further contacts to coordinate joint actions. At the same time, the White House has not yet made any official statements regarding the content of this conversation.

Participants of the “Coalition of the Willing,” which unites over 30 countries, are discussing security guarantees for Ukraine after the cessation of the current Russian-Ukrainian war. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron reminded that Donald Trump confirmed during the discussions his readiness to implement additional sanctions against Russia if it does not agree to peace negotiations.
