Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized in his evening video address on July 21 that the fight against the consequences of recent Russian attacks continues in many cities across the country.

Need to Strengthen Air Defense

The head of state stressed the importance of increasing the number of air defense systems to enhance the protection of Ukrainian cities from Russian missile and drone strikes. Zelensky noted that each new wave of attacks from Russia underscores the necessity of expanding air defense coverage throughout Ukraine.

“Each such wave of Russian strikes reminds us of two things. Air defense: we need more systems, more coverage of our country with protection. Also, our long-range strikes on Russia: if Putin has gone mad over the topic of ‘Shaheds’ and terror, they must be left without logistics. Everyone who works to protect lives and limit Russia’s potential in this war is working towards achieving peace.”

Casualties and Geography of Attacks

On the morning of July 21, Zelensky reported that as a result of the night air attack by Russia, 15 people were injured in Ukraine, and two were killed. The explosions caused damage in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as in Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk. Additionally, drone attacks were recorded in Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Kherson regions.

The president also reported that Rustem Umerov, who remains the head of the negotiation group with the Russian side, informed about a new meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, regarding further negotiations.
