Negotiations on the Supply of Tomahawk Missiles

In his comments, Zelensky emphasized that the Russian Federation is using not only Iranian drones but also actively employing its own drones, as well as missiles of its own and North Korean production. He stressed the importance of supplying Tomahawks to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as, according to him,

“it is difficult to rely solely on drones,” since Tomahawk missiles are needed for combined strikes

.

The president also noted that during a meeting with American President Donald Trump on October 17, Ukraine proposed to establish a bilateral agreement for the supply of Tomahawk missiles in exchange for Ukrainian-made drones.

The U.S. Position and Negotiation Outcomes

Zelensky characterized the negotiations with Trump as “very productive.” According to him, the parties discussed long-range capabilities but decided not to make public statements on the matter for now. The Ukrainian president urged the American side to consider the transfer of Tomahawk missiles.

At the same time, U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on social media after the meeting that he informed both Zelensky and Putin about the need to cease hostilities and reach a peace agreement. Trump emphasized: “they must stop where they are.”

After the negotiations with the American leader, Zelensky held a phone conversation with the leadership of European countries. The conversation included the President of the European Commission, the heads of Finland and Norway, the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, as well as the NATO Secretary General.
