President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom, Valeriy Zaluzhny. The head of state expressed gratitude to the diplomat for his contribution to the work of the Ukrainian team on the international stage.

Meanwhile, at the end of December, media reports emerged about a possible resignation of Zaluzhny from his position as ambassador at the beginning of January. However, the diplomat’s advisor, Oksana Torop, assured that “nothing has changed. He continues to advocate for Ukraine’s interests as the ambassador to the United Kingdom.” No decree regarding Zaluzhny’s resignation has been published on the official website of the president.
It is known that Valeriy Zaluzhny previously held the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In February 2024, Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed him from this position, and by May of the same year, Zaluzhny was appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom.
