Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that since 10:00 on April 20, there has been a significant increase in the number of Russian shellings and the use of kamikaze drones. According to him, the most active combat operations by the Russian army are taking place in the Pokrovsk and Siversk directions, as well as in other areas of the front where heavy weaponry is being used.

The head of state also noted that either Russian President Vladimir Putin does not control his army, or there is no real goal in Russia to end the war, but only a need for favorable media publicity. According to him, these actions are a sign that Russian troops continue to violate the ceasefire and carry out attacks.
Statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Situation at the Front
The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that on April 20, their troops strictly adhered to the ceasefire regime, remaining in occupied positions according to Putin’s orders. At the same time, Ukrainian military allegedly conducted 444 shellings of Russian troop positions and carried out over 900 drone strikes.
On April 19, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an “Easter ceasefire,” which will last from 18:00 on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21. He urged Russian troops to be ready to repel possible violations of the ceasefire regime. However, Ukrainian military reports that Russian forces are not adhering to the announced ceasefire, with violations recorded over a period of 30 hours.
On the morning of April 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Russian troops had violated the terms of the ceasefire announced by Putin and had not ceased fire for more than thirty hours.
