Negotiations on the Peace Agreement and the 20-Point Plan
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, during the meeting with Donald Trump on December 28, the parties plan to discuss a wide range of issues regarding the possible achievement of a peace agreement to end the Russo-Ukrainian war.
The agreement to meet was reached following a preliminary phone call between the President of Ukraine and representatives of Donald Trump’s team — Stephen Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelensky informed about this on December 26, adding that the meeting will take place soon.
Earlier this week, the President of Ukraine referred to the 20-point plan created during discussions between Kyiv and Washington as a “baseline document for ending the war.” According to him, the plan stipulates that Ukraine will receive strong security guarantees, and the number of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be 800,000 in peacetime.
It is worth noting that representatives of the Russian Federation have not officially commented on this plan. Meanwhile, according to information from Bloomberg, the Russian authorities insist on making “key changes” to the 20-point peace plan developed during consultations between Ukraine and the U.S.
