Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a phone conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, announced the signing of important laws necessary for receiving financial assistance from the European Union under the Ukraine Facility mechanism.

Zelensky Emphasized Progress in Meeting EU Requirements

During the conversation, the head of state stressed the importance of promptly adopting the bill that guarantees the independence and effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies. According to Zelensky, Ukraine continues to implement reforms required for receiving EU funding. The President noted that he has already signed laws related to the reform of the National Agency for the Detection, Investigation, and Management of Assets Obtained from Corruption and Other Crimes (ARMA), as well as factoring.

“We discussed the bill that guarantees the independence and effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies. I thanked the European Commission for the expertise provided. We share the same vision: it is crucial for the bill to be adopted urgently, by next week. I informed that Ukraine continues to implement the necessary reforms to receive financial assistance under the Ukraine Facility mechanism. Today, I signed the laws on the reform of ARMA and factoring. Ursula noted the progress in meeting the relevant indicators,” the head of state stated in a telegram.

Parliament Completed Review of the ARMA Bill

The bill No. 12374-d concerning the reform of ARMA was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on June 18. On July 15, this document was signed by the parliament’s chairman and sent for the president’s signature. On July 27, the law was returned to the Verkhovna Rada with the president’s signature, indicating the completion of the legislative process.

The signing of these laws paves the way for Ukraine to receive further financial support from the European Union, marking an important step in the implementation of reforms and strengthening the country’s anti-corruption infrastructure.
