Armed Forces of Ukraine Day: History and Significance

Every year on December 6, Ukraine celebrates Armed Forces Day. This day was established in 1993 when the Verkhovna Rada decided to celebrate it in honor of the adoption of the main law on the Armed Forces in 1991. The holiday symbolizes the courage, self-sacrifice, and resilience of Ukrainian soldiers who defend the state sovereignty and territorial integrity.

International Support and the Negotiation Process

During this period, the Ukrainian delegation is in the USA, where it is negotiating with the American side on ways to achieve a just peace for Ukraine. The delegation includes the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Andriy Hnatov. They met with representatives of the USA, including the President’s Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff and advisor Jared Kushner, to discuss realistic and effective approaches to establishing lasting peace.
