The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office has initiated an investigation into the facts highlighted in a journalistic investigation by the program “Schemes.” Journalists disclosed information about the assets of the family of Kostiantyn Semeniuk, the head of the SBU in the Poltava region, and circumstances that may indicate that these assets were acquired through non-transparent means.

Suspicious Purchases and Asset Origins
The investigation discusses luxury vehicles such as Mercedes-Benz and Audi Q8, a 120-square-meter apartment in Chernivtsi, as well as a share in a recreational complex in the Bukovinian Carpathians. All of this is registered in the name of Semeniuk’s wife’s parents, but according to journalists, Semeniuk and his wife are using, among other things, the Audi Q8 and the apartment in Chernivtsi.
The assets were acquired while Semeniuk held leadership positions in the Security Service of Ukraine — initially in the counterintelligence protection department of the Chernivtsi SBU, and later as the deputy head of the Vinnytsia SBU. It is noted that the seller of the Audi Q8, which was sold at a significantly undervalued price, turned out to be a person involved in the investigation of the same SBU department where Semeniuk worked. The business-class apartments in Chernivtsi were purchased at a price half of the market value from the father of another individual involved in a tax investigation. Semeniuk’s wife previously worked as a tax inspector in the same tax service.
Official Position and Prosecutor’s Response
In a comment to journalists, Semeniuk’s family members and the SBU press service emphasized that the assets were purchased with funds from his wife’s parents. Specifically, his mother-in-law worked abroad for a long time in Italy and Israel. However, journalists pointed out the discrepancy between the official incomes and the value of the acquired assets.
“The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office is taking measures to verify the circumstances outlined in the mentioned journalistic investigation in order to identify possible unjustified assets,” the SAP reported in response to the editorial request.
Additionally, Semeniuk’s father-in-law received a share in a tourist complex in the Carpathians for a nominal price, the true market value of which significantly exceeds his declared income. In 2023, he also purchased a Mercedes vehicle at a market price of $75,000 (over three million hryvnias).
It is worth noting that Kostiantyn Semeniuk was appointed head of the SBU in the Poltava region in August 2025 by a decree from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. Prior to this, he had served for over a year as the acting head of the same department, and he began his career as an operational officer in the Chernivtsi region.
