New Peace Agreement: Possible Concessions from Ukraine

According to international media, the new draft peace agreement proposed by the United States involves significant concessions from Ukraine. In particular, it concerns possible territorial concessions and restrictions in the area of armaments. Among the key points of the US proposal are the reduction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a decrease in the volume of American military aid, which is currently the main support in countering Russian troops. Additionally, it is proposed to ban the presence of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory and for Kyiv to refuse to receive long-range weaponry.

“Russia can do this tomorrow by withdrawing its troops and ending the illegal invasion,” said a spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office, adding that London “shares President Trump’s desire to end this barbaric war.”

Reactions from the Parties and Kyiv’s Position

According to reports from The Financial Times and Reuters, the American proposals largely correspond to the demands that Russia put forward at the beginning of the year when Donald Trump initiated direct negotiations with Moscow regarding the resolution of the situation in Ukraine.

The emergence of this information coincided with the official visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Turkey. At this time, neither Washington nor Kyiv has made official statements regarding the US-proposed conditions for a peaceful resolution.

Meanwhile, Russia has expressed its readiness for negotiations regarding Ukraine and mentioned the possibility of organizing a phone call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin if such a need arises.

After the information about a possible peace plan was released, Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his assistance and for facilitating negotiations. In his address on Telegram, Zelensky also emphasized the importance of “decisive steps and the leadership of President Trump and every strong and fair proposal to end this war.”

It is known that a meeting was planned between US representative Witkoff and the President of Ukraine in Turkey; however, the meeting was postponed and did not take place, according to diplomatic sources.

Earlier, in October, Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine supports the idea of a ceasefire and is ready for diplomatic steps. At the same time, the president stated that the country would not agree to conditions under which Ukrainian soldiers would have to “leave certain areas, giving our land to the aggressor.”
