Medical personnel had to intervene after a traffic accident in the center of the capital

At around 7:00 AM at the intersection of Khreshchatyk and Hordytskyi streets, near the beginning of Independence Square, a passenger car nearly entered the underground passage. According to preliminary reports, the driver of the Volkswagen vehicle, traveling from the direction of Bessarabskaya Square, lost control of the car, causing it to veer onto the pedestrian area and crash into the concrete barrier of the underground passage.

Consequences of the Accident and Actions of Law Enforcement

As a result of the incident, no pedestrians were injured. However, the 43-year-old driver sustained serious injuries – he was diagnosed with an open fracture of the leg. The man was hospitalized by medical personnel who promptly arrived at the scene. A preliminary examination showed that the driver was sober.

Investigative Work and Circumstances of the Accident

As law enforcement officials reported, it has been established that the driver of the Volkswagen, while traveling down Khreshchatyk Street from the direction of Bessarabskaya Square, lost control, resulting in the vehicle veering onto the pedestrian part of the road, where it collided with the concrete barrier of the underground passage.

An investigative operational group from the main police department of Kyiv was working at the scene, determining all the circumstances of the incident. The reasons why the driver was unable to maintain control are currently being investigated.
