The President of Ukraine has approved the decision of the National Security and Defense Council, which introduces a new package of sanctions against companies linked to the Russian military-industrial complex.

Sanctions Affect Over 90 Companies

The new restrictions apply to more than 90 enterprises engaged in the extraction of rare earth and rare metals. These materials are used in the production of electronics, guidance systems, engines, and drones for the Russian Federation.

As the President of Ukraine stated in his address, the decision made on July 27 pertains not only to Russian companies. Sanctions have also been imposed on enterprises from China, Iran, and other countries that are involved in supplying strategic materials and technologies to the Russian military machine.

Synchronization of Restrictions with EU Sanctions

The President emphasized that the sanctions are synchronized with 18 packages of restrictions already in effect in the European Union. As a result, all the listed sanction packages have full legal force within Ukrainian law. Special mention was made of the synchronization of sanctions concerning entities related to the Russian shadow tanker fleet.

“I have approved new sanctions decisions by the National Security and Defense Council. The first is the synchronization of European sanctions within Ukrainian jurisdiction. Currently, all 18 sanction packages are fully synchronized and in effect in Ukraine. Now, restrictions from the 18th sanction package have been applied, particularly to entities associated with the Russian shadow tanker fleet. It also concerns 53 individuals and legal entities – from Russia, China, Iran, and other countries,” the President noted.

The second decision, according to the head of state, is related to increasing pressure on Russian military production. Ukraine aims for such restrictions to be synchronized in the jurisdictions of partner countries.

The President stressed that maximum sanction pressure is an effective response to compel the Russian Federation to cease its aggression and has a significant impact on both the federal budget of the aggressor country and its economy as a whole.
