Vehicles Created Obstacles for Rescuers

On the evening of November 12, a fire broke out in an apartment on the ninth floor of a residential building on Mezhovyi Lane in the Podil district of Kyiv. Capital firefighters, who arrived at the scene, faced the problem once again — the access to the fire source was effectively blocked due to improperly parked private vehicles in the yard.

“On November 12 at 19:27, a report was received at the operational coordination center of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv about a fire in an apartment of a high-rise building on Mezhovyi Lane in the Podil district of the capital,” the statement said.

Fire Extinguishing and Warnings for Residents

The flames were visible from the apartment window, complicating the situation and requiring prompt action. To extinguish the fire, a telescopic lift had to be used, but it could only be set up after considerable effort due to the lack of sufficient space for large equipment. The SES workers noted that the drivers of the parked cars left minimal space for emergency vehicles.

The fire, covering an area of 50 square meters, was extinguished in an hour, and fortunately, no one was injured. Rescuers once again emphasize the importance of adhering to parking regulations and the necessity of keeping access routes clear for emergency vehicles to avoid endangering residents’ lives and complicating the response to emergencies.
