A Day of Mourning Declared in Kyiv on June 18 Due to Massive Airstrike

Rescue operations continue in the capital following the nighttime attack

In Kyiv, Wednesday, June 18, has been declared a Day of Mourning for those who lost their lives as a result of the massive airstrike carried out by Russian occupiers on the night of June 17.

Events for the Day of Mourning and Restrictions in the City

By the decision of the city authorities, on this day, flags will be flown at half-mast on all municipal buildings in the capital. Owners of state and private institutions are also recommended to lower their national flags. Throughout June 18, any entertainment events are prohibited in Kyiv.

“Tomorrow, June 18, has been declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv. In memory of the victims of the enemy’s massive attack on the capital,” the statement reads.

Consequences of the Attack: Number of Injured and Rescue Operations

According to the city military administration, as of 10:00 AM, 114 people have been reported injured, of which 68 have been hospitalized. Two children are in hospitals in moderate condition. The identities of four deceased individuals have already been established, while the identification of another ten bodies is ongoing. Several individuals, including those missing after a missile struck a building in the Solomyanskyi district, remain unaccounted for.

A total of 296 rescuers, 75 units of emergency service equipment, three canine teams, and two helicopters from the fire and rescue service are involved in eliminating the consequences of the destruction. Work at the sites of the tragedy continues without interruption.
