The State Bureau of Investigations has initiated a criminal proceeding due to a fatal road traffic accident in Kyiv involving a military vehicle.

As a result of the accident, which occurred on Olena Telihy Street, two people were killed, including a police officer from Kyiv. According to preliminary data, the driver of the service vehicle, a staff sergeant from the military unit, lost control, causing the vehicle to skid and veer into oncoming traffic. There, it collided with another vehicle, which was carrying a police officer.
Details of the Accident and Investigative Actions
“Today at approximately 05:50 on Olena Telihy Street in Kyiv, a staff sergeant from the military unit, while driving a service vehicle, lost control, skidded, and veered into oncoming traffic. There, he collided with another car, which was occupied by a police constable. As a result of the injuries sustained, both the driver and the passenger – the police officer – died at the scene. The driver of the service vehicle sustained bodily injuries,” the statement reads.
Investigators from the DBR were working at the accident site, documenting the circumstances and collecting evidence regarding the incident. Information about the event has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under part 2 of Article 415 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of driving or operation rules of a combat, special, or transport vehicle that resulted in death.

The procedural oversight in this case is being conducted by the Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region. Investigative actions are currently ongoing, and all circumstances of the tragedy are being established.
