During the talks, the parties discussed preparations for the implementation of security guarantees for Ukraine. Additionally, attention was given to expanding cooperation in military, defense, and economic areas between Ukraine and the United States.

Context of the Meeting and International Attention
The Eightieth Session of the United Nations General Assembly opened on September 9 in New York. During the high-level week, which will take place from September 23 to 29, leaders from around the world will gather in the city. It is during these events, as Marco Rubio previously noted, that Zelensky’s meeting with Trump is expected to take place next week.
The last meeting between the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States occurred on August 18: at that time, following Trump’s summit with Putin in Alaska, negotiations involving European leaders were held at the White House.
