Driver of Mercedes Detained in Kyiv for Assaulting Cyclist on Mezhyhirskaya Street

In the capital, law enforcement officers detained the driver of a Mercedes who brutally assaulted a cyclist during a conflict over improper parking on Mezhyhirskaya Street in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv.

Circumstances of the Attack on the Cyclist

According to the police, the incident occurred after the driver of the Mercedes stopped in the bike lane, blocking the path for the cyclist. After the victim made a remark, a quarrel broke out between the men, which escalated into an aggressive attack by the driver.

“The offender parked in the bike lane, blocking the movement for the cyclist. The cyclist made a remark to the driver, but in response, he struck the man in the head several times, causing him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness. After the attack, the perpetrator dragged the unconscious man to the roadside and fled the scene,” the statement reads.

Detention of the Attacker and Condition of the Victim

The victim, a 40-year-old man, was hospitalized with a closed head injury and a fracture of the temporal bone. His condition is assessed by doctors as serious.

The police quickly established the route of the suspect’s vehicle and, involving special police unit officers, detained the attacker. He turned out to be a 44-year-old entrepreneur residing in the Kyiv region.

The man has already been charged under part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional serious bodily harm. According to the legislation, he faces up to eight years in prison.
