Drunk Driver of Mercedes-Benz Arrested in Kyiv After Causing Accident Injuring Minibus Passenger

A traffic accident occurred in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, resulting in injuries to a 51-year-old woman.

Details of the Accident on Kasian Street

According to law enforcement, the incident took place on Kasian Street. A 37-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz was in a state of intoxication, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a minibus that had passengers inside.

As a result of the collision, a 51-year-old passenger of the minibus sustained serious injuries. Medical professionals diagnosed her with a fractured left clavicle and a closed traumatic brain injury, after which she was hospitalized for necessary treatment.

“As a result of the traffic accident, a 51-year-old passenger of public transport was hospitalized with a fractured left clavicle and a closed traumatic brain injury. The perpetrator of the accident has been detained by investigators under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine,” the statement said.

Legal Consequences for the Driver

During the examination, it was established that the driver’s blood alcohol level was 2.63 per mille, which significantly exceeds the permissible limit. The man has already been charged under Part 1 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for violating traffic safety rules or operating vehicles while intoxicated.

The penalty for this article includes imprisonment for up to three years, along with an additional prohibition on driving vehicles for a period of three to five years.
