The Exhibition “Treasures of Statehood” — A Journey into the Depths of History
“July 15 is the Day of Ukrainian Statehood. This date is meant to remind us of the over a thousand-year tradition of Ukrainian state formation, whose roots lie in the medieval state of Rus, centered in Kyiv. To remind everyone of our statehood’s millennium-long history, we invite you to the new exhibition project ‘Treasures of Statehood,'” the message states.
The thematic exhibition “Treasures of Statehood” reveals the history of the formation and development of Ukrainian statehood through unique historical artifacts. Special attention is given to seals and matrices, allowing visitors to trace the continuity of Ukrainian statehood from Kyivan Rus to modern Ukraine.
Chronology, Rare Artifacts, and Unique Collections
The exhibition is structured into six thematic blocks, covering key periods in the establishment of statehood: Kyivan Rus, the Kingdom of Rus, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Hetmanate, as well as the national liberation struggles of 1917-1921. All sections demonstrate the continuity of the Ukrainian statehood tradition.
The exhibition features historical and cultural treasures from the collection of the Museum of Historical and Cultural Relics of the Sheremetev Family. Notably, the museum’s sphragistic collection is one of the largest in Europe and the world.
The official opening of the exhibition took place today at 2:00 PM. It can be visited from July 15 to 20 at the address: Maidan Nezalezhnosti, 18/2, Trade Union Building, 2nd floor. During the exhibition, guided tours and introductions to the artifacts will also be conducted with the participation of the collection owner and scholars.
