Details of the Investigation into Abuses

According to the investigation, the former official, using his position, prematurely signed a lease agreement for an administrative building in Kyiv—before the completion of renovation work in the premises. As a result, employees of Naftogaz of Ukraine were unable to move to the new office for nearly three months after the contract was signed, yet rental payments were already being made.

“Thus, the company incurred unnecessary expenses, and the state, represented by Naftogaz of Ukraine, suffered losses exceeding 26 million hryvnias,” the agency’s press service claims.

Possible Consequences for the Individual Involved

The former official is suspected of abusing his official position. If his guilt is proven in court, he could face up to six years of imprisonment. At this time, the name of the suspect is not being disclosed by law enforcement, and the Naftogaz group is refraining from commenting on the situation.
