Significant increase in the number of damaged residential buildings in Kyiv
This is reported by Kyiv24
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, 3,129 properties have been damaged in Kyiv, including 2,134 multi-apartment residential buildings. In just 2025, there have been 957 recorded instances of damage to such buildings.
Scale of destruction and displacement of residents
As of August 2025, the list of the most affected multi-story buildings from which residents had to be evacuated includes 88 properties. Of these, 49 were damaged this year alone. Thus, the number of seriously destroyed housing units in the capital in the first months of 2025 has doubled compared to the figures from previous years of the full-scale war.
“In the capital, 25 severely damaged buildings have already been restored, and work is ongoing at 7 more sites. For the other buildings, the development of project and cost documentation, obtaining expert reports, and necessary permits is underway,” the official statement reads.

Housing recovery: conflicting assessments
At the same time, the head of the Obolon District State Administration, Kyrylo Fesyk, stated that no residential buildings have been restored in Kyiv since the end of 2023. According to him, residents of multi-story buildings in the Holosiivskyi district, which were damaged during shelling in February 2023, still cannot return to their homes.
“Things are happening there, but the buildings are not restored. Soon it will be two years,” Fesyk said during a broadcast on Novyny.LIVE.
