“There was no celebration or any formal event on that day. There was a pre-planned off-site working meeting at the site of the critical infrastructure facility. After the meeting, there was a dinner. In the video, which was filmed around 7 PM, there are no signs of celebration, no music, no festivities, despite it somehow being filmed on the premises of the critical infrastructure facility”
Klychko emphasized that the instances of filming officials at the Dnipro Water Intake Station would not have been possible without the involvement of law enforcement agencies. The mayor reported that the city authorities have reached out to the military and the Security Service to clarify the circumstances and legal grounds for organizing this filming, in order to avoid any violations and abuses.
Government Reaction and Investigation
The incident has sparked widespread public outcry, particularly due to the extensive discussion regarding the adherence to ethics and legality of officials’ actions during mourning dates. Vitali Klychko stressed that the city authorities do not condone violations of the law and are working to clarify all the circumstances of the case. At the same time, the public and the city’s opponents are calling for a transparent investigation and accountability for possible disregard for morality during mourning.
