On September 23, the meeting of the permanent committee of the Kyiv City Council on budget, socio-economic development, and investment activities was disrupted due to insufficient attendance of deputies. According to the committee chairman Andriy Vitrenko, deputies from the mayor’s faction, who hold the majority in the committee, did not show up for the meeting, which has become a recurring reason for the disruption of the body’s work.

Issues Raised for Committee Consideration

The agenda of the committee included important issues, among which were amendments to city target programs, as well as the consideration of payments for military personnel and socially vulnerable residents of the capital. The unresolved nature of these issues delays the adoption of decisions necessary to support vulnerable categories of Kyiv residents, particularly military personnel on the front lines.

Appeal to the Mayor

In his appeal to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, Andriy Vitrenko emphasized the unacceptability of such a situation and called for accountability from the authorities. He stressed that the deputies’ neglect of their duties has become a systemic problem that negatively affects the work of the committee and the interests of the Kyiv community.

“Deputies from the mayor’s faction, who hold the majority in the budget committee, have once again disregarded their duty. This is becoming a bad tradition,” wrote Andriy Vitrenko.

Vitrenko also compared the situation to the responsibility of military personnel, who fulfill their duties on the front lines every day, and the irresponsibility of the capital’s authorities regarding key social issues.
