The city authorities of Kyiv are preparing to put the issue of selling the Zhytniy Market to a vote in the Kyiv City Council. The consideration of this initiative is scheduled for the upcoming Thursday.
Discussion on the Future of the Market Continues
As reported by the head of the Public Council at the Kyiv City State Administration, Hennadiy Kryvosheya, the issue of privatizing the Zhytniy Market has reappeared on the Kyiv City Council’s agenda. However, according to the public figure, the deputies have still not received a complete analytical report on the financial and technical condition of the facility. Additionally, none of the deputies’ working groups have visited the market to assess its current state.
“This Thursday, the Kyiv City Council will once again attempt to address the issue of selling the Zhytniy Market,” wrote the public figure.
Concerns About the Future of the Property
Hennadiy Kryvosheya expressed concerns that there are ongoing attempts to seize the municipal property surrounding the Zhytniy Market. According to him, over the past twenty years, there has been a trend of deliberate decline of the market, which may be linked to the intention to sell it at a reduced price or to hand over the area for the construction of new residential complexes.
