A Kyiv man who systematically abused his sister will serve a sentence of 1 year and 9 months in prison. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.

The 44-year-old man has been charged under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – domestic violence. It is known that he has previously been held criminally liable for similar offenses.
Justification of the Verdict and Case Circumstances
“Prosecutors in court proved that the man, who had been repeatedly held criminally liable, including for committing similar crimes, systematically committed domestic violence against his sister, causing psychological suffering and deteriorating her quality of life”
According to information, the man repeatedly used physical and psychological aggression against his sister, leading to significant suffering and a decline in her condition. Until the verdict takes legal effect, he will remain in custody.
In accordance with current legislation, the court took into account the defendant’s prior criminal history and his systematic nature of committing domestic violence. In this situation, the court determined that imprisonment was an appropriate punishment given the circumstances of the case and the severity of the crime.
